Thassos

The rugged Ipsarion Mountain range runs across the island and is particularly spectacular from Potamia where it provides an amazing backdrop. For those seeking something different to the beach, you will find some excellent hiking trails that take in forests, caves, waterfalls and ultimately the peak of the island Ipsarion (1209 metres). You will be rewarded with magnificent views all the way to the islands of Samothraki and Limnos and on a clear day all the way to the Turkish coast.

Thassos has more than 5 Blue Flag beaches, the closest one to Edem is Golden Beach and is only a five minute walk. There are beaches all around the island, from fine sand to pebbles to rock slabs, all benefiting from the turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea. You also have choices of quiet coves or organised beaches with sunbeds and umbrellas, beach bars, beach volley and a big variety of water sports including Scuba diving for amateurs and pros alike.
